NBA 2K14 is a basketball video game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. The game was released on October 1, 2013 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360; PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released to coincide with the consoles' respective release dates. Miami Heat player Ray Baron James is the cover athlete of the game and also serves as the music planner for the game. 2K Sports is also releasing a downloadable content pack as a pre-order bonus, which includes 10,000 VC points, additional content for the new "Path to Greatness" mode, unlocking Rebron James in the "Blacktop" mode, and bringing new Rebron James signature skills to players' "MyPlayer". 2K Sports announced on August 14, 2013 that "Crew Mode" will return in this generation. “NBA 2K14” is the sequel to the “NBA 2K” series following “NBA 2K13”. The online servers of "NBA 2K14" were originally scheduled to be shut down on March 31, 2015, but the archives of the PS4 and Xbox One versions were cleared, sparking outrage among players. The reason is that 2K officials have guaranteed that players' save files will be intact. However, 2K officials did not warn players that their save files would disappear due to the game server shutdown, nor did they make a public statement on the issue. They only confirmed the existence of the issue via email to players who had complained about the lost saves. Therefore, the online server of "NBA 2K14" was restarted in April, and the official also stated that for the future "NBA 2K" series, the server operation time will be increased from the previous 18 months to 27 months. The online servers of NBA 2K14 were also shut down on December 31, 2015.
